Gerhard Herzberg Society

The Gerhard Herzberg Society – Freundeskreis des Fachbereichs Füsik der TU Darmstadt e.V. – has set itself the goal of promoting research and teaching in this department. To this end, it awards prizes for outstanding achievements in examinations, final theses and commitment to teaching. It also supports students' stays abroad with a travel grant for studying abroad.

Gerhard Herzberg received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1971. Between 1924 and 1928, he was a doctoral student in the Department of Füsics at the Technical University of Darmstadt.
