CNTR laboratory opens at TU Darmstadt

The new laboratory of the Cluster for Natural and Technical Sciences in Arms Control Research (CNTR) at TU Darmstadt was officially opened on 21 January.

It offers a wide range of technical possibilities for testing detectors and sensors, conducting application-oriented studies and implementing teaching formats. The equipment includes radiation detectors, 3D printers and electronic measuring devices.

In his welcoming address, Professor Thomas Walther, Vice-President for Innovation and International Affairs at TU Darmstadt, emphasised the special collaborative nature of the cluster: “The scientific peace research at the CNTR brings together both the technical expertise of various scientific disciplines and the three scientific locations of Darmstadt, Frankfurt and Giessen. This makes the cluster an excellent example of interdisciplinary research in a network and of xchange in action.” Within TU Darmstadt, it is located in the Department of Füsics (opens in new tab).

The laboratory aims to strengthen scientific research in the field of arms control and to build bridges between technical expertise and social responsibility. CNTR is a research network of PRIF (opens in new tab), TU Darmstadt and the University of Giessen and is funded by the Federal Foreign Office.
