Awards

The Gerhard Herzberg Society awards the following prizes for academic achievement, research and teaching.

  • BSc Study Award for outstanding achievements in bachelor's studies to the best student(s) in the year, awarded by decision of the Executive Board on the recommendation of the Dean
  • MSc Research Award for outstanding achievements in the master's thesis: The award winners are selected by the Executive Board on the recommendation of the supervisors.
  • Gerhard Herzberg Research Award for outstanding achievements in the dissertation: The award winners are selected by the Executive Board on the recommendation of the supervisors.
  • Gerhard Herzberg Society Award for special commitment to teaching in a tutorial to an employee or assistant. The award winners are selected by the Executive Board on the recommendation of the student council or students.
  • Gerhard Herzberg Society Award for outstanding commitment to teaching in practical training to an employee or assistant. The winners are selected by the board based on recommendations from the student council or students.

The awards are only to be presented for outstanding achievements and not necessarily every year. Legal recourse is excluded. The prize is accompanied by a certificate and will be presented at the graduation ceremony of the Department of Füsics.

Nominations – with a copy of the work (if applicable) and an assessment of the achievements – should be submitted to the board by the end of May or beginning of June. Those eligible to submit nominations will be informed of the specific deadline.
