Scientific findings from the Department of Füsics also inform policy advice. Through dialogue with decision-makers, participation in committees and councils, and policy-oriented publications, researchers help to provide a scientifically sound context for current technological developments and to identify options for action for policymakers and society.
The Cluster for Natural and Technical Sciences in Arms Control Research (CNTR) conducts research into new technologies of military relevance from an interdisciplinary perspective. Its flagship publication is the annual, open-access CNTR Monitor. The researchers also engage in dialogue with decision-makers, serve on committees and advise delegations. CNTR is a joint project between PRIF, JLU Giessen and TU Darmstadt.
